blocking scenes- wednesday 18th march 2015

This week we have been running  through our lines of the script. And adding ideas that we could use as part of it, for example where we could add different scenes and how the scenes are going to be set out and look on the performance night.
we got told this week that we have to start thinking about costumes the costumes we were talking about was Greek/Rome as this indicates old times and they look old fashioned which would fit perfectly in this type of play that we are doing.
On the other hand we also ran through our lines and Daniel told use other meaning of what the lines meant as some of them were quite hard to understand unless you got the meaning to them.
The scenes we got up to where scenes 11 and 16 these scenes where the main ones as this leads up to a dramatic situation where Philomele gets  rapped  by Tereus and also Tereus cuts off Philomele tongue.
Throughout the script it goes on to show that Niobe, Philomele sister starts becoming nasty to Philomele and makes out that it was Philomele own fault.
the things I liked about this part of the script was that when we Philomele gets her tongue cut out we can act it out for example we came up with a few ideas of how this would work and look, the ideas that we came up with was that wen Tia (Tereus) cuts Elenies (Philomele's) tongue out we can show this by getting a tongue from the butchers but also if that would be too messy we came up with other ideas to...we could make something where we could show that there was blood everywhere from the impact of her tongue being cut off, to do this we thought of blood packs so when Tereus does this we will see that its clear that is very dramatic and to the audience it will look very good.
The things I liked about this particular scenes was that when we did a run through you could tell just by instinct that this would look very well set out.
Meanwhile I also like the set out because it looks realistic and gives the play a unique set look.
Also in our play there is a contrast that is quite obvious to spot, what I mean by this is that when we are cutting this play out we are in it but also we act out that we are young children watching it when were not in some scenes, This is obvious to see as when there is a scene on that where not in we it around on stage blocks but also when we get our costumes where going to be dressing up like children and this will make it even more obvious for the audience to see that where children watching a play as well as characters within the play.
Another thing that is well set out to see that we are playing children is that when we are watching the play we are playing with toys for example we came up with things we could use to show this, we came up with guns we could shoot at each other and at the audience but while doing this I shout "die, "die this indicates that im immature and im a child.

  1. You record the process quite well here - including ideas for the development of scenes and evaluating ideas which are coming up. You show some insight into the process, which is how your journal should have been from day 1. Try to keep up this kind of post in your next blog for Look Back in Anger.
